Metro Bus finalizes land acquisition for construction of additional transit station

On January 16, Metro Bus finalized the acquisition of two parcels of land on the corner of 2nd Ave S and Sundial Drive in Waite Park for eventual construction of a secondary hub.
This secondary hub will be a crucial component to improve system efficiency, serve underserved and unserved populations, and allow for shorter trips as Metro Bus plans future service. Soon, residents in the area can expect to see changes to the property but Metro Bus does not expect new construction to start for some time. Prior to the start of construction, Metro Bus will take extra steps to ensure members of the public are well informed, heard and are collaborative partners in the project.
Metro Bus is also in the process of creating an updated Long Range Transit Plan, known as Metro Bus Forward, which will incorporate the new secondary hub. Learn more about that process at ridemetrobus.com/forward.
Metro Bus COO Dave Green shares his anticipation for the new project, “This is an exciting time for Metro Bus and our customers! As the world changes, we also need to evolve and improve. We want to ensure we always provide the best possible service to our customers and the communities we serve. We cannot wait to share what we have in store for the next 7-10 years. Stay tuned!”
