Submit your application following the instructions on the job posting. The employment application is a PDF form you can download and complete electronically or by hand when printed. The recruitment team will process and review applications. If you are selected to interview, you will be contacted by an HR team member to schedule your in-person interview and ride along (if applicable). The number and type of interviews may vary by role.

If the recruitment team decides to move forward after the interview, an official letter of employment will be drafted and a conditional offer will be extended. All offers are conditional to passing a drug screen, background check, licensing (Operators and Fuelers) and pre-employment/DOT physical (Operators and Fuelers).

VETERANS PREFERENCE

Veterans preference is awarded to qualified veterans and spouses of deceased or disabled veterans and is added to application materials. Veterans preference is awarded subject to the provisions of Minnesota Statues 197.455.

You must supply a copy of your DD214 (Member Copy 4). Disabled veterans must also supply a Summary of Benefits Letter from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or an equivalent letter from a service retirement board.

Spouses applying for preference must supply their marriage certificate, the veteran’s DD214 and a Summary of Benefits Letter from USDVAFL or death certificate. All required documentation must be received no later than 4:30 PM on the posted closing date.

This professional driving position includes a high level of customer contact. Most of your day is spent sitting behind the wheel driving, greeting and assisting customers. You drive along set routes, most of which hub from the Transit Center in downtown, St. Cloud.

NATURE OF WORK

Work involves the operation of a public transit bus in the transportation of persons according to a fixed route timetable. Must be able to handle stressful situations related to the managing of passengers and emergency situations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
  1. Abide by safety management practices set forth by the company.
  2. Obey all applicable traffic laws, rules and regulations.
  3. Operate a large transit vehicle in moderate to heavy traffic.
  4. Collects fares, load and unload passengers at determined and undetermined stops.
  5. Courteously give clear and detailed information to passengers in response to questions.
  6. Tactfully maintain order in the vehicle during normal and emergency situations.
  7. Complete clear and detailed written reports.
  8. Act in a manner to promote a positive public image to patrons, motorists, and the general public.
  9. Perform other related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or equivalent. General knowledge of vehicle operations, motor vehicle laws and safe driving practices. Ability or trainable to handle a large transit vehicle following a fixed route structure. Must be a proper representative through good public relations and common courtesy at all times.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Good physical condition. Possession of a valid Minnesota commercial motor vehicle license with air brake and passenger transportation endorsements. Above average motor vehicle record and driving skills. Good communications skills. Availability to work flexible work schedules including, morning, afternoon, night, split shifts and weekends.
