The Minnesota Public Transit Association (MPTA) honored Metro Bus Chief Operating Officer Dave Green with the Minnesota Transit Professional of the Year Award at its annual conference earlier this month.

Green has worked for Metro Bus since 2016, originally as the Fixed Route Operations Manager before becoming the Chief Operating Officer in 2019.

Green exemplifies the transit industry’s commitment to the safety and well-being of customers and employees. Perhaps most important among his numerous accomplishments at Metro Bus is the significant reduction in accidents during Green’s tenure. Reducing accidents by over 50% from 2017 to 2020 demonstrates Green’s success in, and dedication to, pursuing the best safety performance possible. The development and implementation of multiple initiatives including a Safety Incentive Program, a Safety Board showing the lapsed time since the last accident, and improved tracking of accidents were key management factors in this improvement.

MPTA presents the Minnesota Transit Professional of the Year award to individuals who have designed and
implemented a specific program demonstrating innovative concepts or effective problem-solving techniques of proven value.
