Free summer bus passes for kids

U-go Free rack card

Summer 2024 will bring a revitalized Metro Bus U-Go Free Summer Youth Program. To help ensure everyone enjoys a safe, reliable, friendly ride, youth will now present an ID when using the U-Go Free Program. Kids ages 17 and younger enjoy free, unlimited rides on all Metro Bus Fixed Routes from June 1 to August 31 with proper ID.
Central Minnesota youth will have many options to demonstrate they are eligible to use the program, including:

  • High school, middle school or elementary school IDs
  • Various other types of picture ID
  • Metro Bus U-Go Free ID card
Youth may be asked to show an ID with additional information such as date of birth if they appear to be over the age of 17. Youth group leaders can also register for a Metro Bus U-Go Free ID card for easy group transportation.

“The only thing that is better than riding the bus to your favorite activities and destinations is doing it for FREE!” said Ryan I. Daniel, Metro Bus CEO. “This summer the U-Go Free Program provides a safe, reliable, friendly way for young people to travel throughout the Metro Bus service area. We’re looking forward to seeing kids throughout our community on the buses!”

Ryan Daniel, Metro Bus CEO
