Metro Bus Operator wins MPTA Bus Operator of the Year Award

At the 2025 Minnesota Public Transit Association (MPTA) Conference this October, Metro Bus Dial-a-Ride Bus Operator David Peacock was awarded the prestigious Minnesota Bus Operator of the Year Award.
The award is presented to “an individual who has consistently demonstrated high levels of achievement in all aspects of their performance including attendance, safety, customer service, leadership, and commitment to the organization” along with various other qualifications and accomplishments. David exemplifies the attributes required to qualify for the award and goes above and beyond those benchmarks!
David has worked at Metro Bus for 24 years, all as a Dial-a-Ride (paratransit) Bus Operator, providing door-though-door service for qualified individuals. Customers and coworkers often compliment David on his professionalism, driving and customer service. David also takes on a leadership role among his peers by being an Operator Trainer for new Bus Operators. David often shares the true reason he does this job is for the reward of helping people!
His abilities in those areas are also demonstrated by David’s success at annual local, state and national/international bus roadeos. These competitions test Bus Operators’ skills driving a closed course as well as providing basic levels of customer service such as wheelchair securement. At the Metro Bus Local Bus Roadeo held annually in May, David has placed in the top three more than 20 times.
Top bus roadeo finishers at the local level have the opportunity to take part in the MPTA Minnesota State Roadeo where David has competed 17 times and taken first six times. Top finishers at the State level may advance to the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) Bus Roadeo where David has done well including an impressive third place finish in 2022.
